SoulOS is built to be private by default. This policy describes what stays on your device, what you can choose to share with the AI Reflection Companion, and how purchases are verified.
What stays on your device
Your birth details, journal entries, relationship profiles, readings, Reflection Companion conversation history, and settings are stored locally on your device as app-private files. Widget data is stored in the app's private App Group container. SoulOS does not provide cloud sync for this information.
Using the Reflection Companion is the exception described below: a message and only the context categories you explicitly enable are transmitted to generate a response. StoreKit entitlement information is also processed to confirm paid access.
No accounts, no tracking
- SoulOS has no user accounts and no sign-up.
- We do not collect analytics, telemetry, or crash reports.
- We do not use advertising identifiers and do not track you across apps or websites.
- The app contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
AI Reflection Companion
The Reflection Companion is an optional, paid feature included with Guide and Guide+. It is intended only for adults age 18 or older. You do not provide an API key.
Before the first AI request, SoulOS asks for your consent. Your selected Guide voice and belief framing shape the response; you separately choose whether the Companion may use a Blueprint summary, recent journal excerpts, Guide memories, or life events. The Blueprint summary excludes your exact birth date, birth name, coordinates, and birthplace. You can change those choices later. When you send a message:
- Your message, up to 10 recent turns from the current conversation, selected voice and belief framing, and only the optional context categories you enabled are sent through the SoulOS service to the OpenAI API to generate a response.
- If life events are enabled, up to eight event dates, titles, categories, and short pattern summaries are included.
- Signed StoreKit entitlement proof is checked with Apple for current access. For durable daily limits, SoulOS stores only a one-way entitlement hash, UTC date, and count for up to 35 days—not the transaction identifier or conversation content.
- SoulOS stores the conversation history locally on your device. The SoulOS relay processes message content in transit and does not intentionally write prompts or responses to a SoulOS content database.
- SoulOS does not opt in to sharing API inputs or outputs for model improvement. OpenAI states that data sent to its API is not used to train or improve its models unless the API customer explicitly opts in.
- OpenAI also states that default abuse-monitoring logs may contain prompts, responses, and related metadata and may be retained for up to 30 days, unless longer retention is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect services or third parties from harm.
Read OpenAI's current API data-controls documentation. Do not include information you do not want processed by the AI provider.
Purchases
Guide and Guide+ subscriptions and the Guide+ Lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through StoreKit. We do not receive your full payment-card details. SoulOS may send signed entitlement information to its service only to verify access, prevent fraud, and enforce service limits. Manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store account settings.
Calendar and notifications (optional)
If you choose to add an aligned-action block to your calendar, SoulOS uses write-only calendar access — it cannot read your existing events. The daily morning brief is a local notification scheduled on your device.
Reflection and safety, not therapy
The Reflection Companion provides AI-generated prompts for reflection. It is not a therapist, medical provider, crisis counselor, or emergency service, and it is not a substitute for professional medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice.
If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. In the United States and its territories, call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Safety and crisis-help links are available without a membership and are never paywalled.
Data deletion
You can delete local conversations, Guide memories, or all local SoulOS data from Settings; deleting the app also removes its local app data. Deleting local data does not retroactively remove OpenAI abuse-monitoring logs that may remain during the retention period described above. Because SoulOS does not intentionally maintain a server-side conversation archive, there is no separate SoulOS conversation history to delete from the relay.
Children
The Reflection Companion is for adults age 18 or older. SoulOS is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly offer the Companion to anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above.
